Reflecto is a metacognitive tool intended to enrich students' inventory of intellectual and methodological skills. With Reflecto, students can learn how to use strategies and internal language skills linked to eight occupations familiar to them (see above).
The Reflecto Model is greatly influenced by Vigotsky's research on internal dialogue as a tool for cognitive mediation, and by the tools for modeling strategies proposed by Neuro-Linguistic Programming. The result is an intervention model that can be easily adapted to any learning content and that integrates very readily into the development of students' transferable learned skills.
The strengths of this model lie mainly in its principal objective: to empower learners to regain control over their own learning process by teaching them (1) the type of internal dialogue that can better guide their thinking processes, and (2) the type of cognitive actions they need to engage in order to accomplish a learning task.
After 29 years of one-on-one and classroom application, the Reflecto Model has now entered the multimedia era to better support educators in their endeavor to improve learners' cognitive abilities.
